SMS Throughput
REST API (Australia)
Cellcast supports high-volume SMS delivery in Australia using direct carrier connections.
By default, the REST API supports up to 10 messages per second per sending connection. This is suitable for most use cases including transactional messages, notifications, and standard marketing campaigns.
At the default rate, you can send approximately:
- 600 messages per minute
- 36,000 messages per hour
If higher throughput is required, limits can be increased. This is typically done by enabling additional sending capacity or adjusting delivery paths. For large or time-critical campaigns, contact Cellcast before sending so throughput can be adjusted.
Alphanumeric Sender IDs and mobile numbers are supported. Sender ID messages are one-way and include a clickable unsubscribe link in line with Australian requirements.
SMPP (Australia)
Cellcast provides SMPP connectivity for customers with higher volume or more advanced delivery requirements.
Default Configuration
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Throughput | 10 messages per second (MT) per bind |
| Window size | 10 (maximum open requests) |
This configuration supports steady, high-volume traffic and transactional messaging.
Increasing Throughput
Higher throughput can be achieved by:
- Adding additional SMPP binds
- Increasing messages per second per bind
- Adjusting window size
- Distributing traffic evenly across destination networks
Throughput changes are applied in coordination with Cellcast to maintain delivery performance and carrier compliance.
Sender IDs and Compliance
SMPP supports alphanumeric Sender IDs and mobile numbers. Sender ID traffic is one-way and must use URL-based opt-out handling, as required by Australian regulations.
Throughput Increases
If your application requires higher sending speeds or guaranteed delivery windows, contact Cellcast with your expected volumes and timing. We'll review the requirements and configure throughput accordingly.
